Core Technologies

The fundamental building blocks of Maven products are uniform rare-earth doped nanocrystals with atomically precise size, composition, and crystal structures. The crystals are surface modified with ligands – amino groups, carboxyl groups, and organic-soluble groups to accept target antibodies. Maven’s ultra-low limits of detection enable precise detection and quantification at very low target loading.

  • Rare-Earth doped crystals with inherently high energy conversion efficiency and high brightness

  • Functionalized coatings for chemical stability and making possible multiple surface binding sites, reducing non-specific binding, and enhancing dispersibility to assay buffers

  • Upconversion energy for the elimination of auto-fluorescence from non-targeted, fluorescing biological compounds and making possible the use of low cost NIR and IR excitation sources

Our crystals may be conjugated to molecules that interface with nucleotides, receptors, proteins, and other biomolecules.

Small Size and Variability

Our particle synthesis methods result in sizes as small as 3 nm with a standard deviation of size less than 1%.

Morphology Control

Ability to control aspect ratios and produce photonic crystals in any shape: Rods, Spheres, Hex Plates, etc.

Stable in Aqueous Solutions

Our crystals contain a protected core that enables their use in biological applications.

Analyzers

Maven has leveraged existing platforms from a world-leading supplier with an optimized optic engine and detection for high sensitivity, along with a customized interface for ease of use.

Maven is also developing portable in-house systems used to energize and detect the nanocrystals using infrared solid-state lasers, detectors, and associated power and control electronics, software, and housings.
